TV Casting: NIGHT MANAGER, MR. MERCEDES, Richard Armitage in HANNIBAL

The Night Manager, Mr. Mercedes, Hannibal, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on BBC and NBC.

Silicon Valley (HBO)

Suzanne Cryer has been added to the cast of Mike Judge’s HBO comedy Silicon Valley as a new regular

Cryer will play Laurie Bream, a managing partner at Raviga Capital. She replaces Rebecca Creskoff, who was originally was cast in the role in October.

Tough Cookie (ABC Family)

Kevin From Work (ABC Family)

Shoshana Bush [has been tapped] for the lead in…Tough Cookie.

Tough Cookie centers on Lilla Spencer (Bush), a strong-willed, successful publicist who got pregnant at a young age by a man she loved who dumped her, and she gave her baby girl up for adoption so she wouldn’t have to be reminded of him ever again. Now, she learns that her daughter, Eleanor, is slated for another round of foster care unless Lilla gives her a chance in a three-day trial that neither of them is looking forward to. Definitely not mother material, Lilla is shocked to see so much of herself in the outspoken, confident, take-no-prisoners Eleanor, and to her surprise, she doesn’t want Eleanor to go.

Arturo del Puerto has landed a series regular role in Tough Cookie…Del Puerto…will play Mickey, one of Lilla’s roommates, a neurotic hipster and something of a neat freak.

Matt Murray has joined the cast of workplace comedy pilot Kevin From Work, as a regular…Murray…will play Brian, Kevin’s (Reid) best friend and confidant who is also a bit of a prankster; he’s always giving Kevin the not smartest advice.

Shannara (MTV)

John Rhys-Davies is…joining the cast of Shannara

Rhys-Davies…will play King Eventine, Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) grandfather, who has ruled the Elvin kingdom of Arborlon for decades flanked by his sons Arion and Ander. Eventine has done questionable things to keep the Four Lands at peace, but when his beloved granddaughter is chosen to fulfill a dangerous destiny, his path is changed as well.

Queen Of The South (USA)

Adriana Barraza (Babel) has landed a starring role in USA Network’s drama pilot Queen Of The South…Barraza…will play Camilla, the lioness ex-wife of a powerful drug lord who is establishing her own empire in America. She quickly becomes a mother figure to Teresa (Braga), but their relationship escalates into a battle of wills that will leave more than a few bodies in its wake.

TURN: Washington’s Spies (AMC)

Gentry White has booked a heavily recurring role in the second season of AMC’s Revolutionary War drama Turn: Washington Spies. Written by Craig Silverstein…and directed by Rupert Wyatt…Whites…will play Billy Lee, a young slave from Virginia, George Washington’s right-hand man (at age 17), household servant and valet. Educated by Washington, Billy is forever by his side.

Mr. Mercedes

David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, The Practice) is attached to write the script and Jack Bender (Lost) will direct.

Mr. Mercedes, which [Stephen King] describes as his first hard-boiled detective tale, was published by Scribner in June. The story focuses on a psychopathic killer who commits mass murder by driving his Mercedes into a crowd and the recently retired cop who makes it his mission to bring him down.

Roadies (Showtime)

Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) is rounding out the cast of Showtime comedy pilot Roadies…Baker will play Jesse, Kelly Ann’s (Imogen Poots) big-hearted twin brother, who thrives around guitars and espresso machines.

Black-ish (ABC)

Allen Maldonado has landed a recurring role in ABC’s breakout comedy Black-ish. Maldonado will play Curtis, the new assistant to Andre “Dre” Johnson’s (Anthony Anderson).

Twin Peaks (Showtime)

Kyle MacLachlan has closed a deal to topline the new Twin Peaks limited series for Showtime…David Lynch and Mark Frost…are writing…with Lynch directing every episode.

The new Twin Peaks is set in the present day, more than two decades after the events in the first two seasons. It will continue the lore and story of the original series, with Lynch and Frost committed to providing long-awaited answers and, hopefully, a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Childhood’s End (Syfy)

Colm Meaney and Charlotte Nicdao (Please Like Me, Camp, Slap ) have been cast in Syfy’s Childhood’s End…Meaney will play Wainwright, the powerful, confident owner of a major news organization. Nicdao…will play Rachel Osaka, a brilliant and energetic zoologist.

Hannibal (NBC)

Richard Armitage…is set to join the cast of NBC’s Hannibal as Francis Dolarhyde, the serial killer chillingly nicknamed the Tooth Fairy.

Armitage is reportedly set to appear in six episodes of season three

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Fox)

Bradley Whitford is guest starring on Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”…[and] will play Jake Peralta’s (Andy Samberg) father, first appearing on an episode of the police-centered sitcom on Sunday, March 8. His character, Captain Roger Peralta, is billed as a charming airline pilot who often lets down his son. But Jake hopes all that will change when the two of them enjoy a father-son weekend in Brooklyn.

Stitchers (ABC)

ABC Family has recast three lead roles in their first-ever original procedural drama, “Stitchers”…Allison Scagliotti (Syfy’s “Warehouse 13), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Syfy’s “Eureka,” “I Am Legend”) and Ritesh Rajan (“The Last Airbender”) [have been added] to the main cast, rounded out by Emma Ishta (“Manhattan Love Story”) and Kyle Harris (“The Carrie Diaries”) who were in the original pilot.

“Stitchers” follows Kirsten (Ishta), a young woman who is recruited into a secret government agency to be “stitched” into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and help solve mysteries, before they go to the grave.

Working alongside Kirsten is passionate neuroscientist, Cameron (Harris); socially immature bioelectrical engineer and communications technician, Linus (Rajan); Maggie (Richardson-Whitfield), who heads the covert program; and Kirsten’s roommate, Camille (Scagliotti), a computer science graduate student who is recruited into the agency for her hacking skills.

“Stitchers” was…written by Jeffrey A. Schechter…Todd Holland (“The Larry Sanders Show,” “Malcolm in the Middle”) will direct the premiere episode.

The Night Manager (BBC)

Hugh Laurie (House) and Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, War Horse, Midnight In Paris) will star in the six-part series…Susanne Bier…will direct.

The eagerly anticipated drama follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) as he navigates the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), Pine must himself become a criminal.
